1. Data center tax credit created to stimulate economy and add jobs to PA could cost state billions in revenue

“As data centers spread and spark a backlash across the state, new data is emerging about their potential long-term costs. The Shapiro administration’s latest budget estimates show Pennsylvania could lose about $2 billion in revenue by mid-2031 because of a tax break that some lawmakers want to repeal.”

Local activists and lawmakers opposed to the tax breaks argue it is a costly handout to an industry dominated by some of the country’s largest and most profitable corporations when the state is hungry for revenue.’ | PA reflector

5. The grandson of the inventor of peanut butter cups, Reese, accuses Hershey of cutting corners

“The grandson of the inventor of Reese’s peanut butter cups has slammed The Hershey Co., accusing the candy company of harming the Reese’s brand by switching to cheaper ingredients in many of its products.

Hershey acknowledges there have been some changes to the recipe, but said Wednesday it is trying to meet consumer demand for innovation. High cocoa prices have also led Hershey and other manufacturers to experiment with using less chocolate in recent years.

Brad Reese, 70, said in a Feb. 14 letter to Hershey’s brand manager that for many Reese’s products, the company replaced milk chocolate with multi-ingredient coating and peanut butter with peanut butter cream. | Related press
