HARRISBURG, PA − February 3, 2026 − Senator Patty Kim (D-15) released the following statement today regarding Governor Josh Shapiro’s 2026-2027 budget speech:
“Governor Shapiro is leading by example. While Pennsylvania’s economic outlook is strong, people are struggling and we must acknowledge that reality. The Governor has introduced a budget proposal that calls on our General Assembly to prioritize our children and affordability for our households without raising taxes. Additionally, he wants to expand opportunities so that Pennsylvania is able to support innovators, entrepreneurs, small businesses, economic development and, most importantly, everyday Pennsylvanians.”
Government works when it takes people and their life experiences into account. When I hang out all 15vol District, I regularly hear conversations about the rising cost of living. Governor Shapiro has proposed bold budget and legislative steps that will assist lower utility and housing costs and raise a living wage for our working families. The priority is public safety, improving education, protecting consumers and growing our economy. First responders can keep us more protected and unthreatening.
Governor Shapiro said it best,
“Let us unite and make wise investments in schools, safety and economic development. Let’s cut costs and lower taxes. Let’s protect our basic freedoms. And let’s continue our development.”
I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and get to work. Let us work together to finalize a spending plan that reflects the priorities of my constituents in Dauphin County and advances benefits for all Pennsylvanians.”
