PA-11: Smucker announces re-election bid

Congressman Lloyd Smucker announced his re-election bid Tuesday to continue to represent Pennsylvania’s 11th Congressional District, which includes Lancaster and York counties.

According to a press release, Smucker’s campaign will focus on restoring opportunity, strengthening families and ensuring the American Dream is attainable for future generations.

“Every generation before us has fought to create greater opportunities for their children and grandchildren,” Smucker said. “Today, that promise seems increasingly unattainable as our national debt exceeds $38 trillion, threatening the well-being of future generations.”

Smucker, who currently serves as vice chairman of the House Budget Committee and as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, also serves on the Commerce, Social Security and Taxation Subcommittee.

“I continue to believe that our best days are ahead of us, and with responsible leadership we can get our country back on track,” Smucker continued. “By stopping runaway spending, protecting working-class wages, and advancing pro-growth policies, we can restore opportunity and keep the American Dream alive for generations to come. I look forward to continuing this fight every day in Congress.”

Smucker won re-election to his fifth term in Washington, defeating Democrats by 26 points Jim Atkinson in the 2024 elections. He will face a Republican challenger in the May primary elections Jeff Wilderone sec Nancy Mannion AND Sara Klimm announced their candidacies for the Democratic nomination.
