The decision on Monday by the Republican Prosecutor General Tom Corbett, the governor of his party, to join the lawsuit questioning the constitutionality of the Federal Health Care Act, does not sit well with the chairman of the Democratic Party, i.e. Rooney.
“Corbett candidate is wrong to use the office of the Prosecutor General for his thinly veiled political attitude in the field of critical reform of healthcare,” Rooney said in a statement. “Even worse, in the introduction of Pennsylvania to this absurd Corbett lawsuit with high insurance over people with previously existing conditions and hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvania who will receive health care as a result of these provisions.
“Pennsylvania deserves a leader who defends people,” he added. “Yesterday Corbetta’s actions prove that he is more interested in raising the profile of his political candidacy than doing the right thing for Pennsylvania families.”
Corbett will join 10 lawyer generals from the entire state in the lawsuit.
