Stacy Garrity officially candidates for Governor of Pennsylvania

The treasurer of Pennsylvania Stacy Garrita, a Republican, announced on Monday that he was a candidate for the governor, preparing a scene for the challenge for the democratic governor Josh Shapiro in 2026.

The treasurer of the second period, which is constrained in his position, is a robust supporter of President Donald Trump, as well as a fiscal conservative who took a public position against abortion.

Bradford, who, if elected, will be the first governor of Pennsylvania, will now now try to capture the nomination for GOP, as a republican candidate for 2022, senator of State Doug Mastriano (R., Franklin), still weighs the second run.

The 61 -year -old Garrity has been irritating for months with the governor’s residence in social media and press interviews. These tips have accelerated in recent weeks in which she Issued an attack advertising Criticizing Shapiro. Her advertisement on Monday a similar tone hitShapir’s accusation of a lack of transparency and more interest in the Higher Office than in the service of the state and the claim that Pennsylvania’s position in this country has deteriorated.

“When I enlisted in service in the army, I took a solemn oath to defend our country and honor my principles,” Garrita said in the film, announcing her candidacy. “Today I announce that I run to become the next Governor of Pennsylvania. And I will give you and your family my solemn oath that I will work hard hard to solve the problems that Josh Shapiro created.”

Garrita replaced Shapiro as the most crucial winner of votes in Pennsylvania in the history of every candidate at the state level, when she won the re -election last year. She was a leading perspective for republican people with a view of Shapiro’s sedate challenge, Extremely popular governor of the first term.

Shapiro, for his part, won in 2022 with 15 percentage points, i.e. 800,000 votes, and apparently looks at the White House in 2028. In the 2022 Shapiro cycle, Shapiro did not participate in the debate in the basic or universal elections, and Broken previous records of expenditure.

Shapiro spokesman refused to comment on Garrita’s candidacy, referring to the Governor’s comments last week at a press conference in Luzerne.

When asked about the potential Garrita Run, Shapiro said that he would not talk about GOP fights.

“You know what I’m going to do? I will continue to create work here in Pennsylvania. I intend to finance our schools for children. I will make sure that we have more cops for the rhythm and focus on performing the work of Republicans and Democrats to do things” – added Shapiro.

Garrita concentrated its announcement of the campaign on Shapiro and how novel leadership in the state will bring.

But in private E -mail messages sent to members of the State Committee obtained by Inquirer, she made the case much more directly: GOP officials must choose a robust candidate for the top of the ticket to protect the majority of the Republican chamber in 2026, as well as its control of the Senate.

The best GOP officials are afraid that Mastriano, who runs state polls, will be able to gain the GOP nomination in 2026, if she escapes again, but ultimately harms republican candidates.

“If we have a strong candidate at the top of the ticket, I am convinced that we can maintain the senate fines and recover the majority in the state chamber,” wrote Garrita to members of the GOP State Committee. “But if we don’t have a strong candidate for the governor, I’m afraid we will lose the seats of the Senate and give the democrats an even greater majority in the state chamber.”

“If we do not have a strong candidate for the peak of voting in Pennsylvania, President Trump may finally spend his last two years at the office, fighting with unfounded impeachment proceedings,” she added.

Who is the Garrity Stacy?

Garrita is one of the few women chosen to the office in the whole condition and in recent years he has increased as a party leader in Pennsylvania.

He is a retired colonel of the American army and former corporate director who managed to define, conducting a critical (often unknown) state office. She paid state accounts with slight controversy and focused on increasing the transparency of the office’s work.

In 2004, while serving the combat arrangement in the Middle East, she gained the nickname “Angel of the Desert” for her humanitarian approach to prison at Camp Bucca in Iraq.

Garrita was not in Pennsylvania’s policy. In 2020, she won the campaign for a long shot with the current democrat Joe Torsella, which overtook her 11-1.

Shapiro won the state office three times: twice as a general prosecutor and once for the governor. AND Morning survey conducted between April and June From among registered voters in Pennsylvania, it stated that the assessment of Shapiro approval exceeded 61%, with only 27% of voters did not reject the work he did.

Garrita also has some challenges related to the confrontation in the State Republican Party before she can secure the nomination to GOP.

First of all, she would have to capture the support of the party, which the state GOP said that he was planning to make a decision in September. Then she would have to win the basic election of the next spring, which could be a challenge if Mastriano decides to escape. Private survey conducted in May by a survey in public policy found Garrity Mastriano with 21 percentage points, Politico reported.

Despite this, the best members of the state chairmen of GOP and the Funny publicly supported Garrita, and she is a favorite enter into every convention of the support of the state party.

All the time in Garrita’s policy, she remained an avid supporter of Trump, including Trump in many rallies in all of Pennsylvania and pappering a lie that he actually won the election in 2020 from President Joe Biden.

Garrita is also vocal against abortion and advertised the “Pro-life collection” of goods in 2022, including the “Roses Are Red, Purivers to Blue, Defund Planned Parenthood” shirt and the “Baby Lives Matter” hat.

Governor’s Governor 2026 PA.

Shapiro did a favor last year when he decided not to support the treasurer’s race. The opponent of Garrita, nominated by the democratic nominated Erin McClelland, publicly criticized Shapiro when he was ready to be a colleague of Vice President Kamali Harris. The choice of Shapiro, in order not to support, opened the door for trade unions and other democratic groups – which would usually not support the GOP candidate – supporting GarriTy.

Over the years, Garrity was complementary Shapiro for their good working relationships, a tone that has drastically changed in recent months, when she approached the announcement of the governor’s offer.

“I am aware that it will be a difficult race, but I have never withdrawn from the challenge,” wrote GarriTy We -mail to members of the GOP State Committee on Monday. “Many we will see as weaker. But with sand, hard work and dedication I am convinced that we can end the time of Josh Shapiro in Harrisburg.”

Shapiro allies, some of which supported Garrites for the treasurer in 2024, issued warnings for Garrita that if he decides to run for the governor, “they would break all the relationships we have ever maintained.”

For his part, Mastriano raised the idea of running from Garrita, noticing her popularity in the whole state and his grassroots supporters, a prospect that refused to comment.

During the conservative radio program on Monday, Mastriano was asked if he would run for a lieutenant governor, that he would be No. 2 in Pennsylvania, governors and governors of lieutenant and governors before joining as one ticket in universal elections.

“I would like to have her as my lieutenant governor,” Mastriano said.

Mastriano is still opposed to early support by the state GOP, about eight months before the primary elections. Pennsylvania’s Republican Party traditionally supported the winter meeting in January or February, but at the beginning of the election in 2024 – and saw that GOP wins up and to the voting. Senator of State Greg Rothman, the novel chairman of the GOP state, wants to repeat this success in the governor’s competition.

“No facilities or early coronation can match people’s voice,” said Mastriano in a statement. “I am satisfied with an honest basis in which Republican voters, and not political on the website, choose their nominee.”

Mastriano said that he would decide whether he was planning to enter the race at his own pace, and is still teasing at the course.
