Former US senator Bob Casey joins the University of Scranton in an advisory role

After decades, service in a selected office, the next chapter of the former American senator Bob Casey will be at the university in his hometown.

On Tuesday, the University of Scanton announced that Casey joined the school as a distinguished Leaha in public service, which would allow him to take part in many aspects of life in the campus.

“All together we can provide young people with the opportunity to meet public service, inspire service,” said Casey. “It does not have to be a public office. It does not have to be in the government. Even if you run the largest corporation in the world, you can still work on behalf of society in some way.”

In this part -time position, Casey will take over duties, such as the possibility of mentoring and conducting students interested in career in public service, advising the Center for Ethics and Perfection in public service in the field of program initiatives and specialist knowledge with regional government entities through assistance programs.

Casey will also be a resource for campus and a wider community, said the university, in the field of healthcare, aging, ethics, governmental accountability and public service through lectures and seminars.

The son of the former governor of Pennsylvania Robert P. Casey, Sr., Casey was elected to many offices before winning a place in the US Senate. Casey is a graduate of the scranton and College of the Holy Cross, both Catholic, Jesuit institutions, and spent a year as a Jesuit teaching and coaching of volunteers at school in northern Philadelphia, before he obtained a legal degree at the Catholic University.

The University of Scranton is also a Catholic, Jesuit institution.
