A proposal that would legalize the recreational apply of marijuana derived from Pennsylvania House Health Committee along the party lines on Monday.
Bill House 1200Sponsored by Rep. Rick Krajewski (D-Hiladelphia) would include a number of marijuana policy reforms, including enabling the purchase of marijuana for recreational apply over these 21 years and older, mainly through public stores supervised by Pennsylvania Aquor Control.
Krajewski said that the proposal creates a “balanced, responsible and solid framework for legalization and regulation” of the apply of hemp by adults. He created the provisions together with the chairman of the Health Committee in Pennsylvania Dan Frankel (D-Allegheny).
“Currently, Pennsylvania, who use marijuana, or cross state lines to buy from other legal markets or buying on the illegal market,” said Krajewski on Monday. “In fact, the criminalization of marijuana does not work. It does not deter use, does not promote safety and is not in the best interest of our community.”
AND Co -consisting note In the proposal, he notes that five out of six states that boundary from Pennsylvania legalized marijuana. Krajewski said that although Keystone’s state is “late for the game in terms of legalization of marijuana, this time allows us to learn from other frames.”
He added that legalization would impose provisions on strength, content and labeling.
“We can promote public health, bringing hundreds of millions of public dollars that can be sent to the community of hitting the past,” he said.
In a note of comprehension of the Act, he notes that the proposal will reinvest “funds on the community disproportionately hurt by the war with drugs.”
Shapiro’s budget proposal estimates that 20% of tax on wholesale prices of recreational marijuana products would generate USD 15.6 million plus an additional USD 11.4 million USD revenues from sales tax for the budget 2025-26.
Republicans opposed this middle, citing a wide range of problems, ranging from the legislative process.
Rep. The Grimm Krupa (R-Fayette) charity organization complained that House Democrats formally introduced a 173-page bill on Sunday, and then planned a vote for Monday.
“This is terrifying, offensive and to be honest, it has been done because it is well known that there is a wide objection to this account in the way the language is presented,” she said. “This program is a blow in the face of each member of this committee, for society and the very concept of a representative government.”
Frankel did not agree, claiming that the commission had carried out six interrogations about the last session.
Republicans attempted to determine the vote, but this failed in the biased direction.
Other fears expressed by the Republicans who voted against this proposal included the impact of recreational marijuana legalization on the State Working Strength and Public Security, in that Indian cannabis are still considered a substance controlled by the Federal Government from schedule I.
“There is nothing healthy or safe in legalization of recreational use of marijuana,” said Kathy Rapp (R-warren), chairwoman of the Pennsylvania health committee.
The bill withdrew from the committee in the amount of 14-12 and was promoted to Pennsylvania of the Chamber of Representatives to consider.
Many Democrats have expressed support for the adoption of marijuana legalization, although they have a narrow majority in the chamber and are a minority party in the state senate.
