Sense. Pisciottano, Brown and Bartolotta with a representative of Markosek Strengthening responsibility for the services of the cremation of pets
Harrisburg, PA, July 22, 2025 – in response to disturbing allegations and penalty allegations regarding the wrong remains of pets at the VEEB funeral home, state senators Nick Pisciottano (D-Allegheny), Rosemary Brown (R-Lackawana, Monroe, Wayne) i Bartolott’s room (R-Beaver, Greene, Washington), along with Brandon Markos representative (D-Allegheny), announced the introduction of bilateral accompanying regulations in order to strengthen the supervision of suppliers of domestic animals and funeral services.
Currently, the law in Pennsylvania is not a regulatory framework regulating the way the remains of pets should be served. This gap allows evil actors to employ funeral families with a little fear of consequences, even in cases where inventive services are paid, but are never performed.
“Everyone who has a pet knows that they are part of our family and deserve to be treated with dignity, including after death,” he said Senator Pisciottano. “Recent allegations regarding alleged hypoplasia of pets have revealed a lack of responsibility. We must make sure that there are standards and consequences of improper behavior.”
The regulations would establish fresh standards and mechanisms for enforcing the cremation industry of pets, restoring public trust and ensuring that animals are treated with the respect they deserve. The key provisions include:
- Creating a law on consumption protection for animal cremation in order to ensure transparency and responsibility in the services of the cremation of pets and require suppliers to transfer a clear, written description of the services offered.
- When requiring certification after returning the remains, confirming the services were carried out as represented and creating a care chain.
- Ordering cremation suppliers and entities referring to informing pets owners about their rights.
- Establishment of health and safety standards for cremation facilities, including the respect for the treatment of remains and employee safety.
- Requirement from cremation suppliers to maintain detailed records of each cremation for at least five years.
- Granting the general authority of the prosecutor to enforce fines from $ 1000 to USD 2,500 for violation.
- By allowing the appropriate license commission to suspend or cancel the license for non -compliance.
“This bill sends clear messages: if you abuse the trust of society, there will be serious consequences” The Senator of the Praztottano helped. “We must act to make sure that it will never happen again.”
Senate Bill 950 and House Bill 1750 have collected double -sided support. Six members of the Senate of the Democratic Club signed as co-chips, to whom four republican senators joined, including sponsors of co-prime senators Brown and Bartolott. Senator Brown is the co -chairman of The Dicameral Animal protection club Together with the Senator Praztottano, and Senator Bartolott is also a member of the club and a devoted advocate for animal welfare in the community.
“As a dog owner for many years, I understand a deep bond and unconditional love that our companions give us,”, ” Said Senator Bartolott. “This legislation concerns the respect and peace of mind. We owe every animal owner to make sure that their animals are careful, even after passing. Responsible services for the cremation of pets are at least for those who gave us so much.”
Accompanying legislation, sponsored by the representative of Markosek, similarly attracted support in the Chamber as part of this coordinated legislative effort.
“Our legislation will ensure that funeral homes really treat PET remains with dignity when providing cremation services,” he said Representative Markos. “Pets owners deserve consumer protection when they cope with the loss of their companions.”
To make sure that the regulations are based on the best practices and practical implementation, legislators have involved a wide group of stakeholders, including a local domestic animal cremator, funeral houses and International Association of Cemeteries and Kremators for Pets (Iaopcc). They worked closely with Office of the Prosecutor General in Pennsylvania and Department of State To adapt the account to existing regulatory frames and enforcement. This approach based on cooperation played a key role in creating an invoice, which priority treats consumer protection, while determining clear, forced standards for service providers.
Senators and representative encourage additional colleagues in their chambers to join this bilateral effort to protect Pennsylvania and animals they love.
