This is the third part of our series highlighting rank-and-file offices across the state, and today we’re focusing on the attorney general contest.
The Office of the Attorney General, with a budget of $144 million and 1,060 prosecutors, lawyers, investigators and other staff, is essentially a law firm that represents Pennsylvania’s extensive government and defends its rights in court.
But it also investigates and prosecutes everything from organized crime to political corruption, a mission that over the past few decades has improved the office’s image and, by extension, the public profile of the person heading the agency.
