“The state Senate Democratic committee on Tuesday discussed a proposal to require Pennsylvania employers to provide 24 hours of paid leave each year for “minor needs.” The goal is to ensure that employees who care for family members, such as children or elderly parents, can attend medical appointments, attend school classes or respond to unexpected emergencies.

“Lehigh County officials have initiated a legal process to evict the U.S. Department of Homeland Security from county-owned office space after the federal government failed to pay rent for nearly three years.
County sources say the Hamilton Street space was used primarily by Department of Homeland Security agents assisting in efforts to curb human trafficking throughout the Lehigh Valley.
